IFF Hall of Fame

In 2021, the International Floorball Federation (IFF) launched the IFF Hall of Fame as a platform for our Member Federations to recognise and celebrate individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the development of floorball and have represented their country and our sport on the international stage.

The Hall of Fame is, first and foremost, an opportunity for each national federation to highlight the people who have played an important role in its history and in the international development of floorball. Through the Hall of Fame, IFF provides a common international stage where these individuals can receive recognition and where their achievements and legacy can be celebrated by the wider floorball community.

Over the years, many individuals have made exceptional and lasting contributions to international floorball through distinguished careers as players, coaches, and referees. The IFF Hall of Fame (HoF) was created to honour these outstanding achievements and celebrate those who have made a significant impact on the development and history of the sport.

Induction into the IFF Hall of Fame represents one of the highest recognition of an individual’s exceptional international floorball career and contribution to the sport.

General concept 

Persons eligible for candidature are players, coaches, referees. A player, coach or referee can be nominated for Hall of Fame- candidature three (3) years after retiring from their active international career.  The only exception in this rule was for the introduction year of the HoF in 2021 when only retirement from active career was considered (without the three-year minimum).  

A person can be inaugurated in the IFF Hall of Fame (HoF) if they have been very successful in their international playing/coaching/refereeing career, further advanced and promoted the development and awareness of floorball in an exceptional way or is otherwise highly merited among the sport of floorball. 

The IFF Hall of Fame Selection Committee has the possibility to choose players based on candidature submissions which have be submitted by the annual deadline. National federations have the right to nominate HoF-candidates. The Committee has full authority to decide about the inauguration based on the evaluation of the submissions. 

IFF Hall of Fame Selection Committee

The structure of the committee is as follows:

• IFF Central Board, 5-4 members (gender split consideration)
• Athletes’ Commission representatives, 2 members (gender split consideration)
• National team coaches, 3-4 members (gender split consideration)
• IFF Media, 2 members
• IFF Sales Manager, 1 member

The current elected IFF Hall of Fame Selection Committee:  

The term of the Selection Committee is the same as the IFF Central Board term. 

IFF Hall of Fame nominations 

For the initial introduction year of IFF Hall of Fame (in 2021) national federations nominated candidates for each gender from three different eras: 1990-1999 / 2000-2009 / 2010-2021. After the launch year nominations will be considered every five years regardless of the decade the nominees have been active in. 

The Selection Committee will get the nominations received from national federations and prepared by the IFF Office. Nominations must be submitted by defined deadline to be considered (typically early in the year of inaugurations). The nomination form will be published later on this web page. Decisions about inaugurations will be made by mid-September/early October in the respective year of inaugurations. 

The Selection Committee will decide the induction of the nominees by a majority vote.
